Washington, D.C. (Sept. 15, 2006) Celebrity journalist and entertainment lifestyle columnist Jawn Murray will host the BET Interactive series, The Benediction, for BETs broadband network, BET on Blast. The 12-episode series were filmed during the four-day tapings of Bobby Jones Gospel at the BET Studios in Washington, DC and will premiere in October.
BET.com approached me about doing this show and I signed on immediately. I thought the concept was innovative and I anticipated getting candid with some of the whos who in gospel and mainstream music, said Murray.
The series features gospel superstars Smokie Norful, Shirley Caesar, Richard Smallwood, Kierra KiKi Sheard, Deitrick Haddon and Dr. Bobby Jones; in addition to mainstream music talents such as Kelly Price, Dave Hollister, Coko of SWV, Tony Terry and Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore discussing a range of topics from Saved, Sanctified & Blingin to The Church vs. The Check.
In addition to hosting The Benediction for BET on Blast, Murray is fresh off of an appearance on TV One Access, the sister show to Access Hollywood. On TV One Access he served as an expert on Star Jones Reynolds being terminated from The View, in addition to being featured in the package on Boost Mobiles RockCorp event in Atlanta. Murray also recently co-hosted a red carpet special for The Word Network called, The Red Carpet, shot in Hollywood, Florida during Dr. Bobby Jones International Gospel Industry Retreat to celebrate the fifth anniversary of BlackGospelPromo.com.
A weekly columnist for AOLs Black Voices and a regular contributor to the New York Daily News, Murray has also joined the new nationally syndicated radio program, The Rolonda Watts Show (GreenStone Media), as a weekly entertainment news contributor.
